Hosta Leaf Shapes: What We're Talking About

Throughout this site we describe Hosta leaves as having various 'named' shapes. Since we could find no real standards posted defining hosta leaf shapes, we opted to take our cue from Mark Zilis, and stick to the shapes he uses in his legendary hosta encyclopedia, 'The Hostapedia.'

The following are all the leaf shapes used in this database:

Linear Leaf Shape   Very Narrowly Elliptic Leaf Shape   Narrowly Elliptic Leaf Shape   Elliptic Leaf Shape   Broadly Elliptic Leaf Shape   Round Leaf Shape   Lanceolate (Lance Shaped) Leaf Shape   Narrowly Ovate Leaf Shape   Ovate Leaf Shape   Broadly Ovate Leaf Shape   Very Broadly Ovate Leaf Shape   Heart-Shaped (Cartiod) Leaf Shape   Elliptic-Ovate Leaf Shape   Broadly Oblong Ovate Leaf Shape   Triangular Leaf Shape
